Understanding your Bluetooth Access Events Health score

This article helps you understand what your Bluetooth Access Events Health score means, what affects it, and what a healthy result looks like. It applies to sites using Bluetooth access hardware only.

What this score shows

Access Events Health shows the percentage of times drivers entered using Bluetooth, out of all entries at your site.

How it's calculated

This is calculated from your site's total entries for the month, not an average of daily percentages. That means every entry counts toward the result, and at sites with fewer bookings, each one has a bit more impact on the monthly number.

Why you might sometimes see a non-Bluetooth entry

Bluetooth relies on proximity, and a few things can affect that connection:

  • Signal strength can vary depending on how a site is laid out.

  • Some phone models connect less reliably than others.

  • Larger vehicles sometimes park further from the hardware, which can affect the connection.

  • Some entries are simply one-off, and some drivers prefer to use the app's remote trigger regardless.

It's worth knowing that a remote trigger entry is not a failed entry. Drivers using it still get into the carpark without needing to call for assistance.

Why smaller sites often show a slightly lower score

If your site has fewer bookings per day, you may notice your score sits closer to 85% rather than 90%+. This is expected and doesn't mean anything is wrong with the hardware.

It comes down to volume. At a smaller site, each individual entry makes up a bigger share of the total, so one remote-trigger entry has more effect on the percentage. At a busier site, that same single entry barely moves the number.

For example: a site with 3 entries in a day, where 1 used remote trigger, works out to roughly 67% for that day. A busier site with 30 entries and 1 remote trigger stays close to 97%. Same entry, very different impact, purely because of volume.

What a healthy score looks like

  • 90%+ is typical for higher-volume sites.

  • Around 85% is typical for lower-volume sites and is a healthy result. It doesn't indicate a hardware issue.

  • If your score sits noticeably below these ranges over a sustained period, it's worth flagging to your BaseUp contact so we can take a closer look.
