Block out Dates Guide

When and how to block out dates.

Use blockout dates when you want to fully close the car park on specific dates, especially further in the future.

Common examples:

  • Public holidays where the car park is closed

  • Building shutdowns or security closures

  • Major works where no bays should be bookable at all

Blockout dates stop bookings for that policy on the selected dates.

If you want to block out a full car park, you must apply blockout dates to all policies in that car park.

What are blockout dates?

Blockout dates are excluded dates on a policy.

  • On these dates, the policy will not offer any availability

  • Drivers cannot book parking under that policy for those days

They are best for full closures planned in advance (e.g. setting all public holidays for the year).

Before you start

Remember:

  • A car park often has multiple policies (for different user groups, companies, or use cases).

  • To fully close a car park, you need to add blockout dates to every policy linked to that car park’s asset groups.

If you only add blockout dates to one policy, other policies may still allow bookings on that date.

How to configure blockout dates

For each policy in the car park:

  1. Go to Configuration > Policies in the Management Portal.

  2. Select the policy you want to update.

  3. In the policy view, go to the Timing tab.

  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the Excluded Dates field.

In Excluded Dates:

  • Enter each date you want to block

  • Use the format: YYYY-MM-DD (Year-Month-Day)

  • Enter one date per line, as per example below

5. Click Save.

Repeat these steps for all policies in the car park that should be closed on those dates.

Key things to remember

  • Excluded Dates = no availability for that policy on those days.

  • Use the format YYYY-MM-DD, one date per line.

  • To close a whole car park, apply blockout dates to all related policies, not just one.

  • After adding blockout dates, it’s good practice to check for existing bookings on those dates and adjust them according to your internal process.
