Checklists define the inspection or maintenance tasks technicians must complete when servicing assets within a maintenance schedule. A well-structured checklist ensures technicians follow consistent procedures and properly document the results of each inspection.
Accessing the Checklist Section
To create or manage checklists:
Navigate to the Checklist tab.
From this page, you can:
View existing checklists
Edit previously created checklists
Create a new checklist
This area allows you to maintain and update all inspection checklists used across your maintenance schedules.
Step 1: Name the Checklist
Enter a clear and descriptive name for the checklist.
The name should reflect the system or equipment type the checklist applies to.
Example:
Car Lift: 4-High
Using clear naming conventions makes it easier to identify the correct checklist when assigning it to assets in a maintenance schedule.
Step 2: Add Status Options
Define the status options technicians will use when completing checklist tasks.
These options allow technicians to record the outcome of each inspection item and communicate the condition of the equipment.
Status options help flag issues that may require follow-up maintenance or further investigation.
Step 3: Add Checklist Tasks
Add the specific tasks technicians must complete during the inspection.
Each task should clearly describe what needs to be checked so technicians understand the scope of the inspection.
Example task:
Inspect Block Pulley
Clear and specific tasks ensure inspections are thorough, consistent, and easy to document.
Best Practice
When creating checklists:
Use clear names based on the system or equipment type
Keep tasks specific and easy to understand
Include all required inspection points
Ensure status options capture potential issues.
