Qantas Car parking FAQs

Car parking changes at Mascot (March 2026)

What's changing, why and when?

Kent Road and Coward Street carpark is closing on 1 March 2026 due to lease expiry. We’ll introduce Park on King as a new, modern carparking with improved safety and security features from 2 March 2026 to help manage parking availability for our employees.

We’re also introducing a new booking system called BaseUp from 2 March to better manage and optimise all Mascot carparks, and unlock unused spaces so more people can access a carpark when they need one.

Why are we introducing a booking system for car parking at Mascot?

We need a simple way to manage parking at Mascot. BaseUp helps us optimise and unlock all available spaces, giving more people the chance to secure a park when they need one.

Why is this important now?

With the closure of Kent and Coward carpark and the transition to Park on King, we need a predictable, efficient system that optimises the parking we have available, avoids carparks sitting unused, supports a smooth daily flow and brings certainty to our people (they’ll know before they leave home if they have a park).

What are the rollout plans for the new booking system?

Our ELT/SLT will Go Live on the new system on 16 February and all Mascot employees will transition on 2 March. As an ELT/SLT member, you’ll receive more information on setup and readiness instructions the week of 2 February.

Bookings for ELT/SLT users will open on February 09th 2026.

Bookings for all Mascot employees will open on February 23rd 2026.

Do these changes impact car parking availability for ELT/SLT?

No. ELT/SLT members with an allocated bay retain access to their current bay. For SLT members without an allocated bay, using the BaseUp system will provide predictable, confirmed access on the days you need it.

Who is BaseUp and what do they do?

BaseUp is a trusted digital workplace parking platform used by large organisations to manage parking demand, unlock unused spaces and gives employees greater certainty by allowing them to book a carpark before they arrive.

How does BaseUp work?

BaseUp works by enabling users to book an available car park in advance via the app or website.

Why did we choose BaseUp over other providers?

We chose BaseUp because they have successfully rolled out this technology with other large Australian organisations, including CBA, Westpac and IAG. Their system is easy to use, provides access software to more easily manage parking allocations and gives us clear data and insights through a simple dashboard, helping us to understand parking demand/usage.

I have an allocated parking bay - what do the changes mean for me?

You retain your allocated parking bay - you do not need to book a spot. However, you will need to activate your BaseUp account so you can share your bay on the days you won't be onsite.

Why do I need to download the app or register online if I already have an allocated parking bay?

Even with an allocated bay, you’ll need the BaseUp platform so you can share your unused bay with another employee on the days you don’t need it, helping to increase the utilisation of our carparks.

Can my EA set up my BaseUp account and/or 'Gift' my parking bay for me?

Yes, they can. EAs can be set up to book on your behalf. We'll be briefing the EAs of all ELT/SLT members as part of rollout readiness in February.

What is 'Gifting'?

It simply means letting the system know when you’re not using your allocated bay, so others can use it on those days. You do this in a couple of taps in the app or via the website.

Who can 'Gift' their bay?

Members of ELT/SLT with an allocated parking bay are encouraged to Gift their bay when not onsite to unlock the space for others to use.

Why should I 'Gift' my bay?

Gifting helps us better manage and optimise the parking we have. If you’re not using your bay on a particular day, 'Gifting' unlocks it so someone else can secure a park when they need one.

Can I choose who I 'Gift' my car park with?

Yes. You can nominate a specific person or release your unused spot into the general pool. You choose each time.

What does 'Gifting' involve?

It’s a quick action in the app or website to let the system know your allocated bay is available that day. Take a look at our User Guide on Gifting on our Carparking Sharepoint Hub for more info.

How often do I need to Gift my unused bay?

Whenever you know you won’t need it. You can update your plans anytime.

What happens if I forget to Gift my bay?

Your spot stays reserved to you for that day.

What if I don’t want to Gift my bay?

Your allocated bay remains yours and Releasing is optional. Your bay will only used by others when you make it available.

I have unallocated parking - what does this change mean for me?

You’ll need to use BaseUp to book a space before arriving. Bookings give you confirmed access on the days you need it. If you don’t make a booking, you will be unable to access the carpark.

I don't have allocated parking so how do I book a spot?

You’ll need to book a space through the BaseUp app or website. Bookings are quick and can be made on the day or 7 days in advance.

Will I still be able to park if I forget to book? I

f you currently have unallocated parking, you’ll need a booking to confirm a spot. We strongly encourage booking in advance. If you arrive without a booking and capacity is full, you won’t have access to the carpark and will need to find other options.

What happens if my meeting schedule changes last minute?

You can update or cancel your booking in the app or via the website at any time. If you no longer need the space, simply release it so someone else can use it.

Can I make recurring bookings?

No, you cannot make recurring bookings.

Why do I need to download the BaseUp app or register online via the website?

BaseUp is the platform that will manage parking going forward. You’ll use it to book unallocated parking.

Why am I involved in this rollout?

ELT/SLT are onboarding first so you can get familiar with how it works, help us test it, provide feedback and be ready to guide your teams in Phase 2.

When are we rolling out to Mascot employees?

We'll open the new booking system to All Mascot employees on 23 February and Go Live on 2 March. Kent and Coward car park closes on 1 March and Park on King opens on 2 March.

What if the app doesn't work for me?

There’s a web-based option and you can access support via the IT Help Desk or People Services.

Where do I go for help or more support?

We've created a dedicated Sharepoint Hub with a briefing pack, user guides and FAQs which we'll continue to build out during rollout. You are also encouraged to use the support options in the app and web portal for quick replies.

How do I provide any feedback?

You can email the SHR BASEUP inbox at [email protected] and one of the team will respond as soon as they can.

What happens if I am an unallocated executive, but cannot book parking starting on February 09th?

Email [email protected] to request your access is updated. This is managed internally by Qantas and the BaseUp team cannot update your access without approval.

I’m getting an error when signing in (AADSTS50105 / “trouble signing you in”)

This means Qantas IT has not configured your access to the BaseApp application (you are not assigned to the required Azure AD group).

Please email [email protected] and request access to the BaseApp application.

I can log in, but I see 'No buildings available'

This usually means you’re logged in with an email that doesn’t currently have booking access.

If you logged in with your qantasloyalty.com email, log out and log back in using your qantas.com.au email address.

If you are a Contractor C and do not have a Qantas email address, email [email protected] to request parking access. Make sure, you have already registered on Workday, and you use the same email address as your Workday registration when requesting access.

Why can't I book parking at QCB.B2?

This carpark is exclusive to Executives. If you are an executive but currently have no access to book this building, please email [email protected] and request access.

I booked with one vehicle, but I’m driving a different vehicle to the car park

You can enter using any vehicle that is registered in your BaseUp profile, even if you selected a different vehicle when you made the booking.

Only one vehicle can be used to access the car park per booking/session, but it doesn’t matter which registered vehicle you use.

I can’t download the BaseUp app

Your phone may not meet the minimum supported version:

  • Android: 12+

  • iOS: 15.1+

If you can’t install the app, you can still book via the Web Portal (web.baseup.com.au) and access the car park via license plate recognition (LPR).

  • Mascot Campus: If your plate is misread, use your swipe card or the intercom.

  • Park on King: If you have exit issues, use the intercom. You won’t have the app as a backup to enter the Nested gate in case your license plate is misread, and no intercom is available at the nested gate.

How do I enter the carpark?

You can only enter if you have a valid booking in BaseUp.

To access the Campus Undercover, Campus General, The Yard, QCA.B1 and QCD carparks:

  • Enter using number plate recognition

  • If your number plate is misread, use your swipe card

To access the Park on King carpark:

  • Enter using number plate recognition

  • If your number plate is misread at the nested entry gate, open the BaseUp app and press the blue Open button

  • For exit, you can use the BaseUp app, or press the intercom for assistance

User unable to select parking location preference in app

  • Booking preferences are not visible to Contractors.

  • Contractors only have access to book parking at Park on King (POK).

  • If a user can only see contractor policies in their profile, this means their account is set up as a Contractor.

  • If the user believes they are a permanent staff member, they should contact [email protected] so the Qantas team can review and update their access if required.

I'm unable to login and I get an error saying I'm not a direct member of a group with access

  • If you are getting the error attached below, you have not been added to the Qantas AD group by the Qantas IT team.

  • If you have your office location on Workday correctly set to a Mascot Campus building, you will be automatically added to the AD group.

  • If your office location needs to be updated, please raise an internal ticket with Qantas.

  • Alternatively, you can log an access IT request for herself to get the approval using the link: https://qantas.saviyntcloud.com/ECMv6/request/requestHome

  • Go to Home > My Access> Request Access for Self > Select BaseUp and go through the steps to completion

What should I do if the gates don’t open automatically when I arrive at Park on King?

If the gates do not open automatically on entry, please do not take a ticket.

Instead, open the 'access' tab of BaseUp app and and press the 'Blue Open' button to access the car park.

A ticket should only be used by casual public parkers. If you take a ticket as a Qantas/BaseUp driver, you may be charged casual parking rates.

Before entering, please also make sure:

  • you have a valid booking in BaseUp

  • your vehicle registration is entered correctly in the app

If you continue to have trouble accessing the car park, contact support for assistance.

Where do I park at Park on King?

If you have a valid BaseUp booking, you can park in any unreserved bay between Level 4 and Level 10. Please make sure you do not park in bays that are marked as reserved.
